OMAGE

Melding Art and Nature

Wednesday, 7:30 pm, April 23

In the hills of Ojai, close by the Matilija hot springs, Brian Tortora and a group of collaborators are taking on the stewardship of 20 acres of magnificent Ecotopian terrain. Together they plan on creating Omage, a large magnitude sculptural garden that is intended to become "an experience that speaks directly to the heart and transcends the thinking mind".  The art will include the works of world renowned sculptors such as Gerard Minakawa, Kelly Rose Pearson and Will Evans.
Many of us have appreciated their art at Burning Man and other venues. Omage will give their large scale pieces a place to live for a while. The site will also host interactive workshops led by skilled artists that will generate opportunities for creative mentorship and artistic community-building. Join us this Wednesday as Brian guides us down the garden's path to completion.

We'll begin the evening with a potluck at 7:30pm followed by a photographic celebration of the artists of Lucidity Festival 2014, courtesy of talented lens master, Mr. David Pricco. So bring some libations or nibbles to share and be prepared to dream big!

COLLABORATION AT FISHBON

Since our inception as the result of a collaboration in 2003, Fishbonartists, builders, engineers and performers have collaborated to bring more than fifty creative events, installations and performances to life. And we need your help to keep that beautiful string of projects alive. If you have an idea that you want to develop further, want to work with others on a project, or would be willing to help organize a project this year, click on the Collaborative Project Madness banner above and tell us how you want to be part of the next adventure.

Mission and Purpose

Fishbon’s Purpose:
Fishbon's purpose is to provide a forum, education and support for creative collaboration, mentorship and the visceral experience of visual, aural and performance-based art.  It is also to provide exhibition media for the artists and their art forms.

Fishbon’s Mission:
Fishbon's mission is to encourage collaboration between artists, technologists, writers, designers, performers and participants to create unique, real-time, compelling aesthetic experiences that speak to contemporary audiences.  Fishbon believes the synergy (sharings of perspectives and skills) made possible in a collaborative space creates a unique and special context for art.  By providing context, physical infrastructure, tools, mentoring support and encouragement for creative collaboration, Fishbon is an experiential incubator for emerging cooperative working models.  Much more about the process experience than final product, Fishbon creates a diverse "interactive" learning community that would be difficult to achieve in isolated individual working environments.
