Event Description

Berzercus the Isla Vista Circus presents you: Myths and Legends.

Click to watch the trailer!

Short: An interactive circus that tells a series of short stories centered around myths and legends - some new and some old. Acro yoga, aerial dance, hula hooping, live music and DJs, fire dancing, vendors, etc...
~Alysia

Long: We seek the breaking down of the barriers between the audience and performers to create an interactive show environment were you are encouraged to participate. For the day Biko will be transformed into a space where every guest is a character and every interaction is pure play. This will be set against a background where visual art blends into the people the performances leaving you wondering where one ends and the other begins. Costumes are encouraged. Mischief is expected.

We will begin with an open improvisational dance session set to the music stylings of PLOTZ! where creative impulse and communication through movement will ease us into the day's many tales.

Aerial acrobats will dance through air while an open acro yoga session is held below, giving the audience a chance to try their hands at some entry level acrobatics.

The show will end with the fire dancing talents of Pyro Nation who will be telling a series of “fiery tales” that will captivate your soul and tickle your brain.

These are just the broad strokes of the day. There will be food, venders and many other acts not mentioned here. Come joins us on the 14th and explore what happens when we lose all distinctions between performance and play.

Long Live the Strange,
~Satory

Look at this! How could we all not go and support the mayhem and general cleverness that exudes from these mental extroverts of physical dynamism. (whatever the hell that means, let's do this!)

Mission and Purpose

Fishbon’s Purpose:
Fishbon's purpose is to provide a forum, education and support for creative collaboration, mentorship and the visceral experience of visual, aural and performance-based art.  It is also to provide exhibition media for the artists and their art forms.

Fishbon’s Mission:
Fishbon's mission is to encourage collaboration between artists, technologists, writers, designers, performers and participants to create unique, real-time, compelling aesthetic experiences that speak to contemporary audiences.  Fishbon believes the synergy (sharings of perspectives and skills) made possible in a collaborative space creates a unique and special context for art.  By providing context, physical infrastructure, tools, mentoring support and encouragement for creative collaboration, Fishbon is an experiential incubator for emerging cooperative working models.  Much more about the process experience than final product, Fishbon creates a diverse "interactive" learning community that would be difficult to achieve in isolated individual working environments.

Fishbon is a 501 (c) (3) arts organization
