Event Description

This week we're in for a special treat. Christopher Fülling, theatre director & tenor: co-founder of the Art Monastery in Italy ( www.artmonastery.org ) and director of both the giant bizarre opera rituals at Burningman ('98-'02: www.burningmanopera.org ) and the more recent SF theatrical run of the "burning" rock opera " How to Survive the Apocalypse.(www. burningopera.com) will be with us.

Christopher will be talking about the amazing process that he, Clan Destino member Molly Freedenberg and others developed called The Path of the Artmonk, Manifesting Heart-Centered Art in the "Real" World, and Creating 2012 Transformations (including an new opera at Burning Man).

More info about "What is an Artmonk" here:

Following the presentation, we'll be celebrating Fire Performance madman Paul Schurch's birthday with some awesome video of fire performance video from the archives of Pyrospin and much more. This evening will be a blast, so don't miss it.

So join us for the presentation and Nathan's fabulous Bar-B-Que. Just bring vittles for the grill and libations to share. The evening begins with the BBQ from 7ish to 8:30. Things generally wrap up by 11pm.

Mission and Purpose

Fishbon’s Purpose:
Fishbon's purpose is to provide a forum, education and support for creative collaboration, mentorship and the visceral experience of visual, aural and performance-based art.  It is also to provide exhibition media for the artists and their art forms.

Fishbon’s Mission:
Fishbon's mission is to encourage collaboration between artists, technologists, writers, designers, performers and participants to create unique, real-time, compelling aesthetic experiences that speak to contemporary audiences.  Fishbon believes the synergy (sharings of perspectives and skills) made possible in a collaborative space creates a unique and special context for art.  By providing context, physical infrastructure, tools, mentoring support and encouragement for creative collaboration, Fishbon is an experiential incubator for emerging cooperative working models.  Much more about the process experience than final product, Fishbon creates a diverse "interactive" learning community that would be difficult to achieve in isolated individual working environments.

Fishbon is a 501 (c) (3) arts organization
