rogue outfit of misfits in Portland, Oregon started an exciting movement called “City Repair Project
”. Thanks to the Internet this questionable activity has wormed a tentacle or two into our own shiny (albeit, somewhat reddish) city.
Frightening to some, City Repair fosters thriving, inclusive and sustainable communities by creatively reclaiming public space, and rather shockingly, over 50 "individuals" of differing in age, ethnicity, and socio-economic strata are involved in Santa Barbara!
What's going to happen?
Fishbon is speaking up! And we'll have DJ MacIntrye
and the Fishbon Aerialists directed by Autumn Philips
On Friday evening, November 6th at the Pescadrome, meet these movers and shakers of SB City Repair:
• Introduction to Placemaking Workshop: Learn how to create the conditions that support building stronger, sustainable, and deep rooted communities.
• Placemaking Training Series: Weekly workshops to support folks who are interested in starting community projects in their own neighborhood, and be trained as “site leads.”
• Village Building Convergence: An event of creating these planned and co-designed intersection repair projects and night time celebrations!
To get "involved"
Starting with a potluck at 6:30 pm, so get ready to repair our city and bring some delectable to share.
