Event Description

This Saturday is Halloween, and the freaky brains that brought you the infamous Starving Artists Halloween Parties of yesteryear and Fishbon are bringing you something interesting. Come help us dirty up a BRAND NEW STUDIO SPACE! Bring a favorite photo copy of your Dearly Departed friend, family member, or pet for our massive Dia de los Muertos altar! Beat a Donald Trump pinata with a stick to win prizes! Dance on the table to the tunes of DJ Macintrye! Costume contest at midnight! Get pregnant on the roof! Have your fortune told in the Trailer of Mystery by the Great Gattino! See Celebrity Dogs! Partake in the Procession of the Strange! AND MOAR!

The event is free but to find out the location of all these shenanigans, RSVP here before 5pm tomorrow (Saturday).

HEADS UP!
NEXT FIRST FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH
6:30PM TO 9:30PM @ The Pescadrome

BRINGING THE NEIGHBOR BACK TO THE HOOD

Fishbon encounters Santa Barbara City Repair

rogue outfit of misfits in Portland, Oregon started an exciting movement called “City Repair Project”.   Thanks to the Internet this questionable activity has wormed a tentacle or two into our own shiny (albeit, somewhat reddish) city.

Frightening to some, City Repair fosters thriving, inclusive and sustainable communities by creatively reclaiming public space, and rather shockingly, over 50 "individuals" of differing in age, ethnicity, and socio-economic strata are involved in Santa Barbara!

What's going to happen?
Fishbon is speaking up! And we'll have DJ MacIntrye and the Fishbon Aerialists directed by Autumn Philips.

On Friday evening, November 6th at the Pescadrome, meet these movers and shakers of SB City Repair:

•   Introduction to Placemaking Workshop: Learn how to create the conditions that support building stronger, sustainable, and deep rooted communities.

•   Placemaking Training Series: Weekly workshops to support folks who are interested in starting community projects in their own neighborhood, and be trained as “site leads.”

•   Village Building Convergence: An event of creating these planned and co-designed intersection repair projects and night time celebrations!

 To get "involved"

Starting with a potluck at 6:30 pm, so get ready to repair our city and bring some delectable to share.

Mission and Purpose

Fishbon’s Purpose:
Fishbon's purpose is to provide a forum, education and support for creative collaboration, mentorship and the visceral experience of visual, aural and performance-based art.  It is also to provide exhibition media for the artists and their art forms.

Fishbon’s Mission:
Fishbon's mission is to encourage collaboration between artists, technologists, writers, designers, performers and participants to create unique, real-time, compelling aesthetic experiences that speak to contemporary audiences.  Fishbon believes the synergy (sharings of perspectives and skills) made possible in a collaborative space creates a unique and special context for art.  By providing context, physical infrastructure, tools, mentoring support and encouragement for creative collaboration, Fishbon is an experiential incubator for emerging cooperative working models.  Much more about the process experience than final product, Fishbon creates a diverse "interactive" learning community that would be difficult to achieve in isolated individual working environments.

Fishbon is a 501 (c) (3) arts organization
