Fishbon Santa Barbara

Dress Up, Live Now

Hello is there anybody in the Fishbon community that can teach welding? I'd love to learn and I bet there would be a lot of interest. Thanks!

Hey Joel
I think both Dominique Reboul and possibly also Adam Gray might be great options. Both have lots of experience and Dom has taught welding many times. Maybe it would be a class idea. We've done a couple (electronics, fire sculpture, sewing) and are always looking for more. When are you looking to learn and what skill level would you be interested in?
I would like to learn too, SKIPPY! He can teach us.Its fun, like a metal glue gun. Lets make it happen.Adult Ed also has a course. As skill level I'd like to be certified to be on call to maintain and devote my free time to marine emergencies on passing oil tankers and possibly the Cold Springs Bridge. Fuck off Clay, Just a couple of notches above soldering for armatures, and having my way with scrap metal and rebar.
Skippy can manage the locus of possibilities on welding
I used to do gas welding in my youth, forgot a lot of the settings but could still fudge my way through. If anybody wants to teach I'd be interested!
Hi,
My name's Paul & as well as owning a welding & machine shop I taught at the Ventura college welding dept as a student teacher. So it is safe to say that I can probably help you. Depends on what you would like to learn & what some of your previous experiences have been. Feel free to contact me any time 805-207-9308 or email tefftmech@msn.com
I would also like to be a part of this!
did this happen? I want to do it too!!!!
I would love to show what I know. I have welded aluminum in both mig and tig, as well as mild steel, stainless steel, titanium, and magnesium- . I am following this thread and would love to join on any action.

Hi Joel,

I'll ask around, but I bet someone in Santa Barbara Hackerspace (full disclosure: I co-founded) knows how.  We're basically a bunch of engineers and programmers.  Let me know if you've found there to be much (recent) interest since you posted this request precisely 3 long-ass times ago.  If you (or anyone else reading this) join our Google Group you can ask around yourself if you'd like: http://gg.sbhackerspace.com.

I'd be interested in getting in on this and am following the thread.  Great to know if anything develops.
I am also interested and can be a RELIABLE . student/producer MadMX

Mission and Purpose

Fishbon’s Purpose:
Fishbon's purpose is to provide a forum, education and support for creative collaboration, mentorship and the visceral experience of visual, aural and performance-based art.  It is also to provide exhibition media for the artists and their art forms.

Fishbon’s Mission:
Fishbon's mission is to encourage collaboration between artists, technologists, writers, designers, performers and participants to create unique, real-time, compelling aesthetic experiences that speak to contemporary audiences.  Fishbon believes the synergy (sharings of perspectives and skills) made possible in a collaborative space creates a unique and special context for art.  By providing context, physical infrastructure, tools, mentoring support and encouragement for creative collaboration, Fishbon is an experiential incubator for emerging cooperative working models.  Much more about the process experience than final product, Fishbon creates a diverse "interactive" learning community that would be difficult to achieve in isolated individual working environments.
