Every Fishbon event has a musical component. What should the musical element of the event be like? Should there be an overall score? Is there a combination of live music and beats? How do they…Continue

You mention May being about Carnival...Would it not be much more fun and pagan, if we honor Beltane- May Day with some good old-fashioned bawdy Maypole Madness? Just gestating ideas...Horned Gods,…Continue

To get this event to happen, we're going to have to be doing some coordinating. We have three months until the event. That's plenty of time, but there's a lot to do and we're all pretty busy. We've…Continue

Comment by Lauren B Wilson on February 21, 2011 at 2:58pm Clay, Corinna, Nigel and I met as the Performance Cell last week (Feb 17th) and we worked on ideas for the spring event. It was important to set a date that conflicted as little as possible with major players so we came up with May 20 and 21. This gives us time to work on the space (the renovations which have just started) and also on the event. It also gives us plenty of time to rest and be ready to participate in SB-ADaPT which is mid-June.Since the Pesci is limited in the number of people that can attend at one time, Clay suggested we repeat the event twice, (Friday and Saturday nights) partly because it is so much work and partly to raise money. The evenings would be a little different since the Saturday event will have a live and silent auction. If tickets were $20 or $25 for the evening, the combination of ticket sales and the auction could make this a very profitable weekend, since there doesn't seem to be much in the way of lay-out of funds for what we are proposing. We are now dreaming up what the mix of events would be. Here are a few ideas that came up:* I am designing a shadow puppet theater, portable, and I will be designing the figures for the story of "Vasalisa and the Baba Yaga". I will ask Bill Aikley if he would like to accompany this piece on his unique instruments.* Clay has a couple of plays he wants to see developed.* Nigel has poems and is looking for dancers to work with, though the nature of his work may be too somber for this venue and would be better suited to a stand-alone event. Another suggestion he had was to have a fashion show.*Corinna thought that might be a great part of the auction as well: have models doing a runway thing. Their clothes would have big tags with the price on it. Also, we would have Vanna's for the auction, another place for great costuming.* We thought about an arial component.*Corinna has all kinds of ideas about the event as a whole: she wants the evening to be integrated, perhaps with characters in the plays being greeters, witnesses, and guides.*We considered making the theme puppets: not only have the entertainment be driven by that but having a puppet take your ticket, trickster puppets do things all evening in unpredictable ways, people be "marionetted" by others who are on a level above them, etc. We could facilitate the creation of audience members becoming characters using masks, so everyone participates in the whole event.
