Will you please post your inspiration for the dream logo that you shared with me this afternoon? What is the significance of the red dot, how did this come to you, and how do you envision it being used?

A few years ago, I have a lucid dream that I saw someone who had a red dot on their shoulder, over their clothing. The justification was that this person was also a lucid dreamer, and it was a way of identifying other lucid dreamers while in a dream. After I awoke, i expanded this idea, and "Project RUD dot" was formed. R.U.D. stands for "aRe yoU Dreaming?" This is a reminder to do a reality test, a practice all lucid dreamers should be fluent in.

A Red Dot seems appropriate also because of the use of Flashing Red Lights above closed eyes to signal to a sleeping person that they are dreaming. This is used in such devices as the Nova Dreamer from the Lucidity Institute.

Red is a signaling color sometimes used to direct attention. Jonah told me about a lucid dreaming technique he uses to locate objects, or to summon things into his dream that involves a red dot.

Project RUD Dot is an open and evolving idea. It's primary function is to focus a persons intention to become more aware of their dream life. A secondary function is to establish a group of other dreamers who can participate in experiment together, and share the results.

Another aspect of Project RUD Dot, is that participants each have a secret code word that they will never tell anyone while awake, but would tell the code word to another participant while in a lucid dream. This would be an ongoing passive experiment. If a member of Project RUD Dot sees another member of Project RUD Dot while Lucid in a dream, they could exchange code words to verify the experience was a shared dream.
