It would be excellent to begin to collect ritual actions, dances, stories, sensory experiences (candles, incense, readings, etc.) that work. What works for you under what circumstances?Continue

Thursday 11th, at 8pm
We are hosting our second ritual cell meeting this Thursday, and love to have you join us for a magical night at the Pescadrom.

I just put up a link to Joseph Campbell's Power of Myth in the Ritual Cell Links and Videos section above. If you haven't seen it, check it out.

Fun... we could put our own spin on it, lots of potential here. Sorry to hear about D's mom passing. I like to do a ritual around that when Darryl returns to SB.

Ah the Catholics ... what page can we take from their book? Shall we ask ritual imbibers to "confess" their most abused "deadly sin" and then offer the sinner a set of rites that will reveal their private path to the holy grail of redemption. I'm thinking of the trilogy format that the Catholic's use: Sin, Virtue and Sacrament.

Seven Deadly Sins
1. pride
2. envy
3. gluttony
4. sloth
5. lust
6. avarice
7. wrath

Seven Redeeming Virtues
1. prudence
2. justice
3. temperance
4. fortitude
5. faith
6. hope
7. charity

Seven Sacraments
1. baptism
2. confirmation
3. eucharist / communion
4. confession / penance
5. ordination / holy orders
6. matrimony
7. unction

We had our first meeting last night, Clay, Holly and I -missed you dearly... want to share our notes with you, though. Our impulse was not to imitate other cultures like so often seen, but create authentic, passionate experiences, theme related. We thought it would be great to meet again Thursday in two weeks, Feb 11th, a few days before Valentine, with the focus on LOVE. The three of us already had some funidea for hosting the evening events, but there is plenty space for everybody to contribute. So let's get juiced up on the good stuff...

Think that's a great idea!!!

Guerilla ritual sounds very cool. What do you guys think about showing part 1 of the Joseph Campbell series on the Power of Myth at the first meeting as a way of getting grounded in the symbols and stories that ritual embellishes. There are 5 other episodes that could be shown at future meetings. I'm sure many of us have seen the series, but it's so good and a great review of the basis of ritual.

Oh fabulous, Holly and I have done many rituals together, and I love her passion for performances. I think the idea to "shaking things up" with a gorilla-style street ritual piece would be great fun, too. Let's meet this Thursday at 8:30 pm.

Ritual heads, all these ideas are fabulous and inspiring! Ritual with an audience changes the dynamic in many ways, but is just as powerful..Since Valentine's day is coming up as Corinna mentioned, I think the exploration of love is an excellent place to start...and marriage as well! major shifts in paradigms here, and opportunity for depth learning... I think taking a ritual performance to the streets of Santa Barbara, guerilla ritual, could be fun too... Shake up this town! Eliminate sterility and spread inspiration and influence people to look inward and discover their passions... we will have effects beyond out conscious comprehension... Thursdays are good but reminder that a clothing swap will be held at the Pesci on FEB 4 so how about this Thursday? We could also start talks on Wednesday...Love y'all!
