Thanks for the welcome, Clay! Fishbon sounds vibrant--I'm eager to participate when we're in Santa Barbara. We'd love to find ecovillage organic gardening communities to call home in both the Santa Barbara area and here in Costa Rica!
Clay, Thanks for the welcome! Unfortunately, I just found out that I'm moving back to the midwest in the next week or two. I don't think Fishbon events are in the cards for me, but I'm glad to know that such a wonderful, eclectic space exists in SB!
I show a film (I have the equipment but not a screen; do you have a screen?) Im friends with Cameron and hes willing to help as well. The film is called LAUGHOLOGY; 65 minutes.. and then we shift, move the chairs out of the way and I lead a laughter yoga session (if theres carpeting thats great, if not people may need to bring towels or a yoga mat, but its not required....) which lasts about 55 minutes. If you want to read what its about, http://ning.it/9ScMSw is great place to start with video links, more articles, testimonials, etc.
Hi Clay, thanks for the welcoming note... Did you hear from Ronit about me possibly screening a film called LAUGHOLGY and leading a laughter yoga session there? How does that work? And can people leave a donation basket? Here is a flyer we did when we did it July 25th at the Faulkner... and got 44 people:
Hello, Clay. Surprise! Go to Chaucer's bookstore and pick up the prepaid book reserved for you. It was a serendipitous happening, you may have the book already, but you can never have too many goddesses around! I noticed that the total eclipse this Saturday lands right on your Venus. She's waiting for you in an ancient story. Early birthday greetings, Kelley
March 4th Marching Band is a crazy troupe of circus musicians from Portland. I feel that they are a fun and unique group, and that most all fishboners would love them. They are playing SohO on tuesday night, and would love to see a rowdy bunch of creative fun lovers take over the place for the night. If you could help me put the word out, I would appreciate it!
Lol, I finally have a computer to explore and play. Thanks for your patience darlin. So excited about the show. Tuesday nite was lovely and can't wait to keep playing. Lemme know what you guys decide on for the read through time and I'll make it happen. I'm actually in Santa Barbara this coming Monday for some massages, but am willing to drive up when need be. Ciao for now.
Thanks Clay.......Yes, the current biz scene for the arts is different than way back when. So much to know! We are open to volunteer help (data base entry, contact info for artist, lots more), registration as a mentor or young artist and recommendations!! Come on, you great artists!
Clay, Check out Art Without Limits, our new nonprofit providing one-on-one long term mentorships for aspiring young artists, 13-21yrs old in all art forms; performing, visual, literary and media as well as administrative arts. We pair them with established artists and give them sessions with a lawyer, CPA, press reps, gallery owners to learn the business needs of their future profession. Check the web site (a work in progress) www.awolsb.org and let artists know they can register as a potential mentor or young artist. Really excited about this and would love your participation....Julie
hey Clay - actually, I've been here for almost 2 years now; Bay Area turned into a 6 month adventure, but now I live in Santa Monica! Miss you guys, really let me know if you're ever in these parts. I saw the Valentines Day gathering, but I won't be able to go this year.
Fishbon's purpose is to provide a forum, education and support for creative collaboration, mentorship and the visceral experience of visual, aural and performance-based art. It is also to provide exhibition media for the artists and their art forms.
Fishbon's mission is to encourage collaboration between artists, technologists, writers, designers, performers and participants to create unique, real-time, compelling aesthetic experiences that speak to contemporary audiences. Fishbon believes the synergy (sharings of perspectives and skills) made possible in a collaborative space creates a unique and special context for art. By providing context, physical infrastructure, tools, mentoring support and encouragement for creative collaboration, Fishbon is an experiential incubator for emerging cooperative working models. Much more about the process experience than final product, Fishbon creates a diverse "interactive" learning community that would be difficult to achieve in isolated individual working environments.
